It’s fun to look back at Pokèmon now and realize how fundamentally twisted it really is. For starters, you got a 10-11 years old boy who moves away from home. And he doesn’t move to a apartment in the same city, no he goes traveling across the world! At the age of 10! And his mom is OK with it!
And why does he travel away from home at such a young age? To catch and imprison sentient beings of courses! Pokèmon are obviously selfconscious creatures with an intellect close to, if not at the same level, as humans. So he goes out and finds some innocent bird and beats the living daylight out of it. You, literary, go out into the woods, find a animal, then you don’t stop hitting till it stops moving. So, what is next on this agenda of animal cruelty and racism! That’s right, brainwashing! The newly beaten creature is shoved into a tennis ball that somehow convinces it that its attacker is the good-guy. Then, at the end, you force this cute, cuddly, sentient creature to fight against other beings that might not be as cute and cuddly. And if it isn’t stong enough you can either force it to battle a hoard of lesser creatures to gain streanght or you can just trade it off for something better. That’s right kids, slavetrade is FUN! Or why not force you creatures to mate so you can gain another slave!
